Estate Of Unrest And A Peek Into Shards Of Destiny!

Posted in EQ2 on September 23, 2009 by Caladwen

We have been planning a trip to Unrest for the longest time, but somehow it kept getting put off due to some reason or the other. Saturday, I got paged and spent almost all day working so that was the end of my gaming plans. But, we did manage to finally go to Unrest this week! Rohawn was kind enough to tank and Keocia was kind enough to heal on her fury alt. I took Caladwen and my warden along. We did split the zone over 2 evenings and as I haven’t been there a whole lot, Rohawn showed me how to work the zone. I think I’ll still be a little lost without guidance though ;) . This zone is creepy!!! I still love it though and we had a blast! The warden and Keocia each won a piece of set armor – added bonus to the fun.

Also, Sunday night my wizard and warden tagged along for Order of Rime quests with Kitara, Keocia and Triuna. This was an alt group. After Kitara and Triuna decided to head to bed, Keocia and I continued the quests for a while, till about 6 AM or so! The mean brutes in the Crystal Grove (Fens) Kept killing us, cos we were all weak! I always enjoy alt groups, even if there are several deaths. Keeps it interesting and we always laugh over what happened! Thanks for all the awesome groups, guys!

And GU53 is supposed to be live sometime today! Tons of good stuff to look forward to. Here are a few of the things I’m excited about.

- The new heirloom tag that is supposed to be active on several previously no-trade items. This excludes quest items but includes shard armor, so you can make shard armor for alts and trade the pieces using the shared bank! Too bad I transmuted some no-trade mage items that I could have passed on to my wizard. I did see some people complain about this in the chat channels, their main concern being people rolling on all items claiming that their alts can use them.

- Houses are going to have an extra room. Woot! And house item layouts can be saved. Makes it easier to take down all that holiday decor.

- “Chronomagic” – the auto-mentoring system which does not require a mentor target, just need to talk to a ‘timeless chronomage’.

- Shard of Love zone! Apparently there are some lovely house items and fancy wings you can quest for in this zone.

- New red shiny collection! I love everything shiny!

- Teleportation Spires World Event. It’s upto us to activate the destroyed spires! And also more lovely house items as rewards.

Whew… too many to list!

One thing I’m not so excited about is the racial trait changes (Will have to see how this plays out…).

Note: I just covered a few things. You can find the entire Shards Of Destiny Update Notes here.

Happy exploring and safe travels all!

Weekend Plans!

Posted in EQ2, Random Musings on September 18, 2009 by Caladwen

It has been a crazy couple of weeks, so I’m glad that the weekend is finally here. I did get to go to a U2 concert last weekend, which was truly magnificent! Last minute tickets FTW!

I haven’t done anything too much fun in EQ2 other than checking the broker, chatting with some friends and leveling my tinkerer some (It seems sloooow!). Transmuting seemed to be quicker for some reason. Broker sales were not too bad, made about 20 plat selling mostly shinys and I immediately spent the plat on a paladin master :) . My plan for the weekend is to level my wizard, who is currently 71. And just maybe, she’ll pick up some statues of Marr knights and dragon language runes along the way. I do mean to complete those two questlines someday!

For those of you who use Station Cash, this weekend is supposed to be “Double Station Cash Weekend”. If you purchase a Free Realms station cash card at a retail location and redeem it this weekend, you get double station cash. Sounds like a good deal for those who are looking to transfer servers or buy items!

Have an awesome weekend and safe travels all!

Hot Zones Coming Soon!

Posted in EQ2 on September 4, 2009 by Caladwen

Apparently, hot zones are going to be active on the US servers on September 5th. The hot zone is going to be a different zone every single day with a supposedly higher chance to drop fabled items. I was wondering what on earth a hot zone was when I saw it on my welcome screen. Of course, it was set to none when I saw it as it’s not active yet. This is live on the European servers, not too sure how the drop rates are on those servers as I haven’t come across any posts so far. Sounds like an interesting addition and hope everyone gets the rare loot they have always wanted!

Have an awesome weekend and safe travels all!

What’s In A Title?

Posted in EQ2 on September 2, 2009 by Caladwen

It’s all about the titles! One of the things that I love about EQ2 is the various prefix and suffix titles that can be obtained. The only bad thing about having too many choices is not knowing which ones to pick at any given time. Since they can be changed, it can suit the mood I suppose. When I first started playing, I really wanted to be ‘Lady’ Caladwen, ‘Paragon of Truth’ (Which reminds me… I really need to go back and finish up those Court of Truth quests someday!). Back then I was lacking status points required to purchase the prefix title and so worked on a lot of writs and HQs and when I had enough status points, I wasn’t sure which title I wanted! Is it going to be ‘Lady’, ‘Baroness’, ‘Countess’ or ‘Duchess’? Hmm… tough choice there. Those are the prefix titles I’m still debating on anyway. I know, I know… they can be changed, but for some odd reason I want to stick with one prefix title. It’s fun to change the suffix title around though. Some of my favorite suffix titles are ‘Hero of Kugup’ (I actually have this title, after completing the quest Marr’s Chosen. Woohoo!), ‘The Treasure Hunter’ (This is obtained after completing 5 HQs and talking to your neighborhood sage) and ‘Paragon of Truth’.

At least I’m not as crazy as one of my in-game friends who betrays every now and then to grind writs from other cities just for the titles that can be obtained with the various factions :) . Whew… that must be a lot of work! What are your favorite titles?

The Wizard Finally Gets Some Love!

Posted in EQ2 on August 27, 2009 by Caladwen

I have been wanting to level my wizard, well – have been wanting to for a long time. But, I usually get side-tracked and end up playing the paladin instead. I usually box the wizard with a warden on my second account. Nothing fancy, I just switch between two windows and make sure the squishy wizard is healed enough. One of my in-game friends recently mentioned some fancy software to imitate key strokes, broadcast them and the like while boxing… /boggle
Say what?!? It’s probably going to take me a while to figure that out and it sounds complicated! So, the simple method of just switching windows works for now :) . Does anyone else use any special software while running two accounts?

In any case, since I have been busy lately I didn’t bother to renew the second account. Figured I’d renew it in a couple of weeks when I have more game time. Keocia and Rohawn weren’t free at the same time on Sunday, so I logged on the wizard to join an Acadechism PUG. It went well, not too many deaths! Finally, some progress on the Swords of Destiny timeline. Now, it’s time to collect just 50 statues ;) . Woot! We also went on to finish Obelisk of Blight. Gosh, it has been forever since I tanked it on my paladin. The wizard now has her first piece of the Al’Kabor set – Al’Kabor’s Spellborn Shoes. She was 70 when she started and got to level 71 and also got a couple of AA (Yayy for bonus AA weekend!) by the time we were done. Poor warden has been left behind in the dust!

A couple of my guildmates need Chardok updates for their alts. So, hopefully everyone is on at the same time and we can get those updates this weekend. Have a great end-of-the-week and weekend and safe travels all!

“Hang With Me In My MMO”

Posted in EQ2, Random Musings on August 18, 2009 by Caladwen

Hope everyone had a good weekend :) . I had a quiet weekend for a change and did log onto EQ2 Friday night. Keocia, Rohawn and Talduke were on so I asked if they wanted to head to Mistmyr Manor. Having never ventured into this zone before, I figured it would be fun to explore a new zone, get some AA and also get the update for “The White Dragonscale Cloak” HQ. Keocia got a couple of her guildmates to come along and we headed to Evernight Abbey first. Talduke got busy but did join us for Mistmyr Manor. The group consisted of 3 paladins ;) . We didn’t have too much trouble clearing the zone. Mistmyr Manor was slightly tougher but we still completed the zone. Only one more update to go to complete the HQ.

Both zones were fun to explore. And lots of quests to be completed with legendary rewards. Lord Thex in Evernight Abbey was an interesting encounter with picking up the abilities and watching out for the sun. This was my favorite encounter out of both the zones.

More than anything, it was definitely great to catch up with friends as I hadn’t seen them in a while. I miss them for sure and look forward to more fun times when I’m able to log on more often. And now, about the title of the post – check out this video. It’s awesome! Have a good week ahead and safe travels all!

Tinkerfest Goodies!

Posted in EQ2 on August 11, 2009 by Caladwen

I know that this is a late post about Tinkerfest, but amidst all the RL madness I did get to participate in the festivities. Woot! It was crazy the day the event went live. My poor toes got stepped on several times. The least crowded I discovered was Temple Street compared to Baubbleshire and Steamfont Mountains. Maybe people didn’t want to sort through the grime to pick up the cogs and shinies :) . Everytime I was camping, a cog would pop up right next to me and I just had to pick it up. Those evil gnomes!

I love these live events. They make the game more enjoyable. Wish I wasn’t such a pack rat though… It might be time to rent some storage in Qeynos ;) . Can’t wait for Frostfell!

Now for some old but exciting news. All those old mounts that you don’t use anymore can be turned into house items! Even the carpet mount from Maj’Dul. How awesome is that! Safe travels and happy decorating all!

A Short Break And Enchanted Grottos!

Posted in EQ2, Random Musings on July 24, 2009 by Caladwen

Happy Friday everyone! I apologize for the lack of recent posts, been crazy busy with work and RL stuff. I am still around though! I haven’t been on EQ2 too much, so haven’t had too much to talk about. Things should be back to normal in about a month or so, have family and friends visiting and a whole lot of other things going on. All good stuff! I do log on now and then, just don’t spend as much time in-game as I usually do :) . I’m going to make a weekly post at least until things settle down.

I missed out on the enchanted grottos last month, so I was pretty excited to partake in the events earlier this week. I did manage to run a few alts through at least to grab the purple shinies. Caladwen did manage to complete all the quests and got a decent chunk of AA. There are definitely some interesting house items that can be bought with the tokens. I still haven’t picked up anything yet, since my house is such a mess and I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I don’t want the sleeping dragons to suddenly wake up and mistake the poor fawn plushie for a snack!

Also, Tinkerfest will be live from 00:01 July 24th till 11:59 August 3rd PDT. Woot! Have a great weekend and happy tinkering all!

Happy Friday!

Posted in EQ2 on July 10, 2009 by Caladwen

Hope everyone had a wonderful week! The weekend is here! Woot! I haven’t been upto anything too exciting in EQ2 other than a Shard of Fear run. Rohawn, Amonost and Caladwen took down most of the trash mobs and nameds. The next day Galya joined us for the epics. No choker this time! Looks like Sinnir’s marinade idea did not work for me! :) But we had lots of fun! So, no complaints at all!

I also did manage to squeeze in some gaming during the bonus xp time. My wizard and warden are both at level 68 now and I started the Kylong Plains quests. They both have about 90 AA points or so each, so I’ve been debating on whether to take them back to Loping Plains and Bonemire and then come back to Kylong Plains… I’m still deciding!

Have a wonderful weekend and safe travels all!

Who Doesn’t Love Bonus XP?

Posted in EQ2 on July 2, 2009 by Caladwen

Looks like this weekend is going to be a bonus XP weekend “all across the EverQuest universe”. Yay!!! Bonus XP starts at 6:00 PM CDT Thursday and ends at 12:00 PM CDT Monday. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but hopefully I’ll get some time to take advantage of the bonus xp. I have been meaning to level my wizard :) .

I went to Mistmoore’s Inner Sanctum last night but sadly got paged halfway through and had to take care of some work stuff. Sad, indeed! Thanks for putting it together Keocia! I am very glad that they were able to find another tank and finish up the zone though. I need to go back sometime and destroy Mayong Mistmoore so that I can get my Soulfire weapon.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! Safe travels all!
